MISSION
Velocity Center for Dance
Is fully devoted to providing dancers of all ages an encouraging environment where they are given the opportunity to grow and excel in their dance education. We strive to deliver the highest quality of dance training, while nurturing each student’s unique gift of talent and creativity. We wish to encourage our students to achieve their fullest potential – to support them as they grow artistically and academically, and develop into well-rounded individuals – nourished in body, mind and spirit.
CREATIVE MOVEMENT
Ages 3-5
All of our combo classes are based in creative movement and introduce the basics of specific techniques. These classes are wonderful for building confidence, and developing social and listening skills. Students are encouraged to explore self expression and creativity through imagination.
Our combo classes are designed to help transition students from our Tiny Dancer/Pre Dance classes to more structured dance classes.
PRE DANCE
Ages 6-8
Ballet,Jazz,
Hip Hop for ages 6-8 focuses on getting students ready to transition from combination type classes to full hour classes in a specific style of dance. Ballet class will include more challenging barre exercises while emphasizing basic terminology. The Hip Hop portion of the class will concentrate on developing intricate patterns and rhythms, while the jazz portion of class will begin to develop student's flexibility and balance skills.
BEGINNER LEVEL
Ages 9 & Up
Ballet, Lyrical, Hip-Hop, and Jazz.Classes in this division are based on individual progress. All ballet classes will follow a classical ballet structure: barre, center and across the floor routines so that dancers develop a more well rounded technique. More advanced choreography will also be introduced. As students improve in strength and technique they will be able to take pre-pointe and pointe classes. Dedication to improvement and hard work will result in level advancement. Our learning environment will remain fun and stress free ensuring that each student gets equal instruction and has a great time.
INTERIMEDIATE LEVEL
Our intermediate level classes are designed to develop the skills and foundation learned in our beginner level classes. In these classes, dancers will build on the foundation of each style of dance through more advanced center and across the combinations and stretching exercises.
ADVANCE LEVEL
An advanced class which expands on intricate movement, floor work, and bringing out the inner artist. This class allows dancers to expand on their technical foundation, while promoting elements of improvisation, creativity, individualism, musicality and adapting to details in choreography within the vast genre of contemporary dance.
